Trends, New Wrinkles In Mich. Virus Story

The state reported 645 new cases of corona virus and 95 deaths. This is low compared to recent days. But officials say it’s because of a lag in reporting cases on Easter weekend.
The number of those recovered stands at 433, alive after 30 days since they had symptoms.
The numbers reveal a trend. More deaths are taking place at nursing homes. And the average age of COVID-19 deaths is 73. The youngest to die in Michigan was 20 years old.
The virus has claimed the lives of 4 Kroger employees and 1 Meijer employee.
Self employed and independent contractors can apply for unemployment starting today.
Small businesses across the state warn they’ll go out of business under the governor’s sanctions. Residents in northern Michigan don’t want downstaters to bring the virus, but businesses need the customers.
A Recall petition aimed at the governor claims to have 120-thousand signatures.

The Great Lakes state has banned motor boats on the lakes.
Boating and jet skiing is added to the list of things that are banned until Michigan’s COVID-19 stay-at-home order is over.
Motorboats, jet skis and other motorized watercraft are not permitted under the revised stay-at-home order in effect through April 30, according to a clarification posted to the state’s web page. The order allows self-propelled boats like kayaks, canoes or sailboats. But you can’t do it with friends, just immediate family. Boating businesses are allowed to designate workers to conduct minimum basic operations.
