Michigan health officials report 997 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 115 deaths, up from the day before. Michigan has had 25,635 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 1,602 deaths.
Nearly 40 percent of the cases and deaths are in Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb counties.
Gov. Whitmer says business owners should think about extra measures they need to make employees and customers safe. Whitmer says she feels your pain but the stay at homes order must remain in effect.
More than 1 million people – over a quarter of Michigan’s workforce – have filed for unemployment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Some state legislators want non-essential state employees to take calls for the unemployment agency, or be laid off. They’re afraid of a huge budget deficit.
