Workers Threaten Strike At Nursing Homes

Some 16-hundred workers at 17 Detroit-area nursing homes say they are going in strike today over what they say are unfair working conditions in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. Most are from for-profit nursing home chains. Workers are demanding that staffing shortages be dealt with, that they be provided with adequate personal protective equipment and that wages be increased. Workers say they want the nursing home owners to pay them a living wage so that they can afford to get the health care that they provide to their patients.
