When Will Gyms Open; Schools Watched Closely

The gyms are still closed and organized sports remain sidelined, but Governor Whitmer says a decision on their futures in both cases will be announced in the coming days. The governor says ‘we have to get this right.’ She explains she is working around the clock with state health officials that the proper decisions are made that will protect athletes, coaches, parents and fans along with small business owners.  Whitmer added that lives are at stake and the corona virus remains a very real threat across the state.
The latest figures from Michigan health officials show there were 524 new cases and 14 deaths. The state has now confirmed a total of 103,710 cases and 6,509 deaths.

With schools starting to reopen across the state, Michigan’s chief medical executive, Doctor Joneigh Khaldun says a careful eye will be kept on schools that have virus outbreaks associated with them. She says the state is working with local health departments to gather the information and that it will be made public. Doctor Khaldum said the state will start posting the information on-line in the next two weeks.
