Mich CV Going Up; Guv Warns About Jobless Benefits

Michigan’s health officials  reported 1,407 new cases of COVID-19 and 15 new deaths. The new numbers bring the total number of COVID-19 cases to 128,923 and the total number of deaths from the virus to 6,816. The numbers reported represent the total cases since Saturday.  Nearly 100,000 people have recovered from the virus in Michigan.

Gov. Whitmer says the action by the Michigan Supreme Court, overturning the law under which she made executive orders, will result in more corona virus and more deaths.
Whitmer has moved to try to delay the court ruling, and could go back to the court to argue further.
Whitmer says the court ruling meant that she interpreted the law correctly, even though the court said the law was wrong.
Whitmer tells WJR the ruling puts in jeopardy unemployment benefits for the jobless.

One of the executive orders kicked out by the court ruling expanded unemployment benefits, according to the governor’s office.
