DETROIT, August 31, 2022 ~ The Detroit Tigers today released their 2023 schedule, featuring 81 games at Comerica Park. A charter member of the AL, 2023 will mark the 123rd season of Tigers baseball and their 24th season at Comerica Park.
Starting in 2023, MLB has implemented a balanced schedule, which includes two home and road series against each American League Central team, a home and road series against other American League teams, and at least one home or road series against every National League team.
The Tigers will open the 2023 season on March 30 at Tampa Bay, marking the third time that the Tigers and Rays have faced each other on Opening Day. Following the three games against the Rays, the season-opening road trip continues with three games at Houston from April 3 through 5. Detroit’s Opening Day presented by Rocket Mortgage, is slated for Thursday, April 6 against the Boston Red Sox at 1:10 p.m.
With the balanced schedule in effect for 2023, the Tigers will welcome eight NL teams to Comerica Park next season. The Chicago Cubs, New York Mets, Atlanta Braves, and San Diego Padres are among the NL teams slated to visit Detroit next season. Road interleague series next season include the Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers.
The Tigers will be home for a pair of summer holidays in 2023. Detroit opens a three-game series against the Texas Rangers on Memorial Day, May 29, while the team will celebrate the Fourth of July holiday against the Oakland Athletics.
