DETROIT, September 16, 2022 ~ Ford unveiled the all-new seventh generation of Ford Mustang, showing off the base, GT, and the first-ever Dark Horse models, which will begin selling in the 2024 model year
Though the Dark Horse is based on the seventh-generation GT, the first-of-its-kind model is built for racing, and packed with performance and track-focused features.
Only available with the Coyote 5.0-liter V8, the Dark Horse’s engine includes internal components from the 760hp supercharged 5.2 Predator V8 found on the GT500.
“That thing is going to be targeting 500 horsepower right from the start of the Dark Horse. Naturally aspirated,” said Ford Motor Company Mustang Marketing Manager Jim Owens to 760 WJR‘s Guy Gordon at the Detroit Auto Show. “The GT500 supercharged 5.4 that we started out with in 07 on Gen 5, was 500 horsepower supercharged.”
