Food Bank Council of Michigan Aims to Address Rising Food Insecurity in the State

July 28, 2023 ~ As Michigan sees a continual rise in food insecurity, the Food Bank Council of Michigan is looking for help to address the issue.

According to Michigan Advance, the council is requesting $20 million from the state legislature in the state’s 2024 fiscal budget, an increase from $2 million in 2023. The council states food security is increasing due to COVID-19 pandemic-related benefits ending and rising grocery prices.

Food Bank Council of Michigan Executive Director Dr. Phil Knight spoke to 760 WJR‘s Guy Gordon to talk more about how the council addresses food insecurity in Michigan.
