July 31, 2023 ~ Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed a repeal of a 2018 law Thursday to address environmental challenges in the state.

State Sen. Sean McCann (D-Kalamazoo) sponsored the bill to repeal the “No Stricter than Federal” policy signed into law by then-Gov. Rick Snyder. Proponents of the repeal said the policy was too restrictive in responding to state environmental crises like bouts of chemical pollution, with McCann saying that federal ecological standards should be “the floor.”

State Sen. Joe Bellino (R-Monroe) spoke to Kevin Dietz and Tom Jordan on 760 WJR‘s “All Talk” about his thoughts on the bill.
