New Documentary Finds Rape Victims Seeking Police Help Are Being Charged With False Reporting, Including Michigan Cases

Sept. 5, 2023 ~ A new Netflix documentary found that many rape cases nationwide brought to law enforcement are being reversed by police, with them filing charges against victims for making up their stories.

The documentary “Victim/Suspect” explores this trend with specific cases, including ones from Michigan, according to the Detroit Free Press. Law professor Lisa Avalos explained how this can discourage rape victims from reporting what happened, and what should be done to prevent this from happening further.
