Sept. 6, 2023 ~ Contentious debates over funding bills in Congress are threatening to shut down the federal government if legislation is not passed by the end of its fiscal year on Sept. 30.

The White House and Democrat-controlled Senate are pushing the House to pass a short-term funding bill to keep government offices operating, while long-term funding packages for fiscal year 2024 are negotiated. Far-right House members are pushing for an impeachment inquiry for President Joe Biden and strict immigration crackdowns for the long-form spending bills.

Democrat U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell (MI-6) said there is a real possibility of a government shutdown, and she shared more of her thoughts on 760 WJR‘s “All Talk.”
