DETROIT, Oct. 4, 2023 ~ After a long five-year run, Bally Sports Detroit announced Matt Shephard will no longer be returning as the voice of the Detroit Tigers.
Driven by his passion for baseball, Shephard worked his way into the Tigers booth, starting as a fill-in broadcaster. In January 2019, he was named the “Tigers’ TV Voice.”
Shephard was known for his passion for the game, regardless of the circumstances of the baseball season. Through the remote broadcasts during the pandemic and Tigers slumps, he made it work, bringing enthusiasm rain or shine.

(CONTINUED) Sources claim that Shephard was blindsided by the announcement on a Tuesday morning meeting. In a bittersweet ending as play-by-play voice, Matt Shephard will be remembered for his contributions to the Detroit Tigers.
Bally Sports Detroit is expected to start a national search for Shephard’s replacement as they move in a different direction.
