WASHINGTON D.C., Oct. 18, 2023 ~ Republican Rep. Jim Jordan (OH-4) lost more ground in his bid for House speaker on Wednesday when he lost his second vote, with Republican Rep. John James (MI-10) being one of the 22 GOP House members who voted against him.
James, who voted against Jordan in the first round of voting, instead voted for current Macomb County Public Works Commissioner and former U.S. Rep. Candice Miller for House speaker. The right-wing hard-liner Jordan received 199 votes in the second round, short of the 217 needed to win.
