DEARBORN, Oct. 25, 2023 ~ President Joe Biden‘s unwavering stance on Israel and Palestine following the Oct. 7 Hamas attack is creating a rift between him and the younger and Arab American wings of the Democrat Party, alienating voters in swing states like Michigan that may create difficulties with retaining the White House in 2024.
Many Muslim and Arab Americans who supported him in 2020 feel betrayed, claiming he is enabling Islamaphobia and is failing to protect Palestinians from Israel’s air strikes and total siege on Gaza, which has seen over 6,500 Palestinians killed, including thousands of children. Some people in the Michigan city of Dearborn – the city with the largest Muslim and Arab American population per capita – have vowed to never vote for Biden again, possibly hurting his electoral chances in a swing state he narrowly won in 2020.

(CONTINUED) Biden has seen criticisms from Democrat politicians who represent Dearborn, including U.S. Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI-12) and State Rep. Alabas Farhat (D-Dearborn).
“Joe Biden has single-handedly alienated almost every Arab American and Muslim-American voter in Michigan,” Farhat told NBC News.
