MICHIGAN, Oct. 26, 2023 ~ On Wednesday, a Michigan Court of Claims judge denied a request from former President Donald Trump to throw out a lawsuit that seeks to keep him off the 2024 state ballot, which claims the 14 Amendment of the U.S. Consitution should bar him from the ballot for “facilitating” an attempted insurrection on Jan. 6, 2021.

Judge James Redford, appointed by former Republican Gov. Rick Snyder, also denied Trump’s request to be a formal party in the case, saying that his legal team failed to explain why it would be legally relevant for Trump to be a part of the case. The lawsuit was filed in September by prominent Wayne County Activist Robert Davis against Democrat Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson after she denied a legal challenge to keep him off the ballot.
