New Michigan Legislation Would Require Elected Officials to File Financial Disclosures

LANSING, Oct. 27, 2023 ~ A bipartisan legislation package was introduced Tuesday in the Michigan Legislature that would require elected officials to file yearly public financial disclosure forms that include income they earned and a description of their assets. However, some lawmakers and political analysts are concerned the legislation has gaps that would not address potential avenues to corruption enough and that more rules should be added to the bill.
