WASHINGTON D.C., Nov. 8, 2023 ~ Democrat Rep. Rashida Tlaib (MI-12) was censured Tuesday evening in a 234-188 vote, including 22 of her House Democrat colleagues, regarding her statements about the Israel-Hamas war.

The censure resolution, authored by Republican Rep. Rich McCormick (GA-6), was introduced over criticisms of her defense of the pro-Palestinian slogan “From the river to the sea” which is considered by many to be an antisemitic call for removing Jewish people in Israel, including some of Tlaib’s Michigan Democrat colleagues. Tlaib and many pro-Palestinian protestors push back on the antisemitism charges, saying the slogan refers to the creation of one, secular state in Israel where Arab and Jewish people are equal.
