MICHIGAN, Nov. 9, 2023 ~ As the Israel-Hamas war wages on in Gaza, a new poll conducted by a DNC polling firm shows the party’s growing divide and waning trust with President Joe Biden in Michigan, a key swing state that narrowly helped him win the presidency in 2020 by just 150,000 votes.

The Lake Research Partners firm conducted a survey of 513 Michigan Democrats that found only 16% of Arab American and Muslim voters would vote for Biden if the election was held today, with 61% of voters under 30 saying they would vote for him. The poll also found that 92% of Arab American and Muslim Democrats, who have high populations in metro Detroit, support a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas conflict, with 71% of all Michigan Democrats wanting a ceasefire, something Biden has refused to call for.

This reflects other polls conducted nationwide, with a John Zogby Strategies poll finding that Biden’s support from Arab Americans has plummeted from 59% in 2020, to 17% percent if the election was held today. Another poll conducted by Data for Progress found that 66% of all national voters agree with a ceasefire, including 80% of Democrats and 56% of Republicans.

As of Thursday, 10,812 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza, about half of them are children. The Hamas attacks in October killed 1,400 Israelis.
