LANSING, Nov. 22, 2023 ~ With the Michigan State Legislature finished for the year, Democrats are prioritizing legislation for 2024 and are looking to bipartisanship due to the State House‘s current 54-54 split.

Detroit land tax reform, auto insurance rate reforms, and holding special elections to fill two vacant House seats were some of the issues State House Speaker Joe Tate (D-Detroit) highlighted during an interview on “JR Morning with Guy Gordon, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds.” House Democrats are concerned that the elections might be held later in the year, with some local clerks expressing concerns about overworking their staff with a proposed February general election.
