DETROIT, Dec. 4, 2023 ~ Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick stopped by 760 WJR for Monday’s edition of “‘JR Morning with Guy Gordon, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds.”
In January 2021, exiting President Donald Trump commuted Kilpatrick’s 28-year prison sentence related to bribery and racketeering charges, a sentence many metro Detroit residents and politicians felt was too harsh. Kilpatrick talked to the WJR hosts about his thoughts on the criminal charges today, his work with preaching and criminal justice reform, a possible return to Michigan, and his claim that God told him about his commutation in solitary confinement.
