Michigan State 0-2 in Big Ten After Loss to Nebraska

LINCOLN, Dec. 11, 2023 ~ The Michigan State Spartans were defeated by the Nebraska Cornhuskers 77-70 in the Spartans second Big Ten matchup of the season at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The Spartans played a solid first half. Michigan State shot just around 50% from the field and from the three-point line. However, star point guard Tyson Walker underperformed from his usual level in the first half, shooting just 1/6 from the field.

The Cornhuskers were led by Juwan Gary, carrying 10 points in the first half. The team was playing up to par against Michigan State, shooting around 43% from three. Going into halftime, Nebraska only trailed by three.

(CONTINUED) Spartans’ Malik Hall and Walker both shot 50% from the field in the second half. Scoring 22 points, Hall potentially had his best game of the season. Walker also stepped up big for the Spartans with 15 points in the second half alone.

Nebraska didn’t back down from the Michigan State duo as Brice Williams stacked up 14 points in the second half. Gary also complimented his 10 points from the first half with another 10 in the second. Nebraska shot 16/25 as a team from the field, putting pressure on the Spartans.

Michigan State looks to snap their two-game losing streak as they face top 10 ranked opponent Baylor at Little Caesars Arena on December 16. Coverage starts at 1 p.m. on 760 WJR.
