LANSING, Dec. 14, 2023 ~ Six of 15 accused GOP fake electors appeared on the second day of their preliminary hearing Thursday for forgery charges related to a scheme to overturn the 2020 presidential election results by giving former president President Donald Trump Michigan‘s electoral college votes.

The second day of the trial in Ingham County saw testimony from Laura Cox, the Michigan Republican Party Chair during the 2020 election, who said the six defendants “Weren’t electors at the time, in my opinion.” Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel initially charged 16 Republicans related to the scheme but dropped charges for one after he agreed to fully cooperate in the case. The other defendants are expected to start their preliminary trials in January.
