WHITMORE LAKE, MI, Jan. 2, 2024 ~ Police are continuing to conduct an investigation on what caused a residential Michigan home to be obliterated in an explosion that killed four people and injured two others.

Northfield Township and Michigan State police responded to an explosion Saturday afternoon at a rural home in Whitmore Lake, just north of Ann Arbor, which reportedly sent debris flying over the nearby U.S.-23 freeway and was heard up to nine miles away. The two injured were brought to a nearby hospital, where they remain in critical condition.

The names of the victims have not been released, nor have police confirmed whether they are related. A gas explosion is one of the theories investigators are working on, but the cause of the explosion has yet to be determined.
