One Dead, 20 Wounded Following Kansas City Chiefs Super Bowl Victory Celebration

KANSAS CITY, Missouri, Feb, 14, 2024 ~ One person is dead and at least 20 have been wounded following a mass shooting Wednesday at a rally scheduled to celebrate the Super Bowl victory of the Kansas City Chiefs.

An estimated one million people were in attendance at the rally when gunshots rang out just to the west of Union Station where the rally was being held. As panic ensued, the sizeable police presence on hand ran towards the shots.

(CONTINUED) Three men have been taken into custody. Reports suggest that one or more of the apprehensions were aided by fans in attendance. No motives have been released and police say that an active investigation is ongoing.   

Of the injured, eight were said to have had immediate life-threatening injuries and several are reported to be children. 

On X, formerly Twitter, the NFL released a statement Wednesday saying, “We are deeply saddened by the senseless shooting that occurred today near the end of the rally in Kansas City for The Chiefs. Our thoughts are with the victims and everyone affected. We are grateful for the quick and thorough response of law enforcement and emergency personnel.
