EAST LANSING, MI, March 18, 2024 ~ The Michigan State Spartans will travel to Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina to face off against the Mississippi State Bulldogs in the first round of this year’s NCAA March Madness Tournament.
After losing to the Purdue Boilermakers in the quarterfinals of the Big Ten Tournament on Friday, the Spartans were a team on the bubble to receive an invitation to compete during March Madness this year.

(CONTINUED) Michigan State players, coaches, and fans were all forced to wait until the Selection Sunday show on CBS to see if the selection committee would call the Spartans name. It wasn’t until the program unveiled the West Region that Michigan State was selected.
With the selection, the Spartans are set to face off against Mississippi State in the first round of the tournament on Thursday. The Bulldogs are coming off a loss to Auburn in the SEC Tournament Semifinals. Coverage for the showdown between the Spartans and the Bulldogs will begin at 11:15 a.m. on 760 WJR.
