Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel Does Not Rule Out Running for Governor

MACOMB COUNTY, May 29, 2024 ~ Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel is not ruling out running for governor in 2026, according to an interview with the Detroit News.

In the interview, Hackel said he won’t support President Joe Biden in his re-election bid and hinted he is considering running for governor. He told Kevin Dietz and Tom Jordan that, “If I decide to do that, it’s going to be one of those thought processes, ‘Is the public ready for somebody that has more of that independent mindset?’ That’s where I’m at. I’m that person that doesn’t say, “Let’s reach across the aisle. I’m in the aisle.“
