DETROIT, May 30, 2024 ~ About a dozen student protestors at Wayne State University were arrested early Thursday morning after riot police raided a pro-Palestinian solidarity encampment.

Footage from the morning showed police pushing students in pajamas out of the area and ripping off hijabs, leading to rallies on campus and the Detroit Detention Center on Mound Road calling for the release of the arrested students and condemning the actions by university officials. All protestors have since been released. Students set up the encampment last week to push the university to divest from companies tied to Israel amid its military campaign into Gaza, with the university responding by moving to remote operations this week.
