MICHIGAN, July 2, 2024 ~ In a social media post on Monday, Gov. Gretchen Whitmer denied reports that she told the Biden campaign that he lost Michigan following his poor debate performance last week causing concerns about his mental fitness.

This comes as calls for President Joe Biden to step down are piling up after he tanked the debate, with Whitmer being floated in the media as a top contender to replace him on the presidential ticket. However, Whitmer not only denounced calls for her to replace Biden in an article from Politico, but refuted a claim in the article that she told a campaign aide that he has lost her state, stating “Anyone who claims I would say that we can’t win Michigan is full of s***.” A post-debate poll from Morning Consult found that a 47% plurality of Democrats think Biden should step down.
