MICHIGAN, July 9, 2024 ~ Gov. Gretchen Whitmer re-affirmed her support for President Joe Biden, rejecting calls for her to step in as the Democrat Party‘s presidential nominee even if he steps down.

In an interview with the Associated Press to preview her new memoir, Whitmer said that the conversation for her to step in is a “distraction” from governing and campaigning for Biden. Many top Democrat lawmakers have called on Biden to step down as the party’s nominee due to concerns about his mental capabilities following his disastrous debate with former President Donald Trump in late June.
