Michigan Politicians React to Trump Assassination Attempt

MICHIGAN, July 16, 2024 ~ Michigan politicians continue to react to the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, which hangs a shadow over the Republican National Convention this week.

U.S. Republican Rep. Tim Walberg (MI-5) said on WJR that he was in “absolute shock” when he heard about the shooting, and hopes that those in power will “ratchet down” their political rhetoric in response. On the Democrat side, U.S. Rep. Debie Dingell (MI-6) said that the hate and rhetoric needs to stop “on all sides,” and that people should refrain from speculating on the assassination attempt and stick to discussing the facts.
