MACOMB COUNTY, MI, July 17, 2024 ~ Michigan municipalities continue to ward off residents from flushing wipes down the toilet, causing millions of dollars in damage every year.
Many local government officials, such as Macomb County Public Works Director Candice Miller, have railed against what they argue are misleading labels that lead consumers to flush these non-biodegradable wipes, contributing to the creation of damaging “fatbergs” in sewer systems. These advocates in Michigan recently gained a victory in May when the state required wipe manufacturers to put “Do Not Flush” labels on their products.
