MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin, July 19, 2024 ~ Former President Donald Trump accepted his third consecutive nomination to the presidency Thursday during the closing night of the 2024 Republican National Convention.
His speech, Trump’s first since the assassination attempt on his life, offered a dramatic account of the moments where shots rang out at that now infamous Pennsylvania rally.
“Let me begin this evening by expressing my gratitude to the American people for your outpouring of love and support following the assassination attempt,” Trump told the captivated audience.
“The assassin’s bullet came within a quarter of an inch of taking my life … The amazing thing is that prior to the shot, if I had not moved my head at that very last instant, the assassin’s bullet would have perfectly hit its mark, and I would not be here tonight.”
