EAST LANSING, August 23, 2024 ~ After adding over 60 new players to the team in the offseason, Michigan State Football has decided who will lead their team out on game days this fall.

Sophomore transfer quarterback Aidan Chiles, sixth year transfer center Tanner Miller, redshirt senior transfer linebacker Jordan Turner, redshirt junior running back Nate Carter, and sixth year defensive lineman Maverick Hansen round out the list.

SOCIAL MEDIA:

(CONTINUED) Chiles and Miller follow head coach Jonathan Smith from Oregon State and should both make an immediate impact on an offense that struggled mightily last season. Chiles was seen as one of the best quarterbacks available in the transfer portal, and Miller was named First Team All-Pac 12 by The Associated Press in 2023.

Turner comes by way of Wisconsin, and adds some much needed depth to a unit that features sophomore Jordan Hall, who starred as a freshman, and fifth-year Cal Haladay.

Carter and Hansen are the only captains that were a part of last year’s team. Even with all of the injuries to the offensive line last season, Carter still put up solid numbers. He was two yards short of rushing for 800 in 2023 and added four touchdowns. While Carter transferred over last year, Hansen has been in the program for multiple head coaching changes. His experience should be calming for a team with a lot of new pieces, especially on the defensive line, where he will see a lot of snaps.
