EAST LANSING, August 30, 2024 ~ Michigan State Football will undergo a new era tonight as they kick off the 20242025 season against Florida Atlantic University under the lights at Spartan Stadium. Excitement is high under new head coach Jonathan Smith, considering his track record at Oregon State before accepting the Spartan job. Despite his recent successes, his new job is to put together almost a completely new team by 7 p.m. kickoff tonight.

“There is always an urgency with first games,” Smith said at his weekly press conference. “Mechanics, calling substitutions, communication, but I do feel like our work has gotten us to a good point. We still have to go out and play and then we have to learn from that.”

Sophomore quarterback Aidan Chiles will be making his debut in the green and white tonight along with a number of other notable transfers. All eyes will be on the 18 year old from California, as Michigan State is looking for steady quarterback play for the first time in the last few seasons.
