DETROIT, September 22, 2024 ~ The Detroit Lions (2-1) never trailed on the road against the Arizona Cardinals (1-2) in a 20-13 victory Sunday afternoon. The Lion defense played excellent in the second half, only allowing a field goal in the final 30 minutes.
The offense for the Lions started out clicking early in the first quarter as running back David Montgomery scored on a one-yard touchdown run. The Cardinals had an answer in the first 15 minutes though, as wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. scored their only touchdown of the contest 10 minutes in.
Detroit would take the lead back in the second quarter and hold onto it for the rest of the game with two touchdowns. The first came on a five yard pass to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, then the All-Pro Brown hit running back Jahmyr Gibbs with a pitch that the second year speedster took to the end zone for a 20 yard score.

Sept. 23, 2024 ~ The first road game of the regular season ended with a 20-13 win for the Detroit Lions against the Arizona Cardinals. Guy, Lloyd, and Jamie talk with Lomas Brown, Detroit Lions Radio Network analyst, to discuss the Lions’ run game dominance, and Brown being named as one of the modern era candidates for the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
(CONTINUED) While the offense could not muster any more points for the second half, the defense locked in. Safety Kerby Joseph recorded an interception that would have gone for a touchdown and defensive end Aidan Hutchinson tallied sack number 5.5, the most in the entire NFL.
After a tough loss last weekend against Tampa Bay, the Lions showed resilience in a bounce back effort to return to a winning record. After taking responsibility for the previous game on the field goal blunder close to half-time, head coach Dan Campbell made a key fourth down challenge that overturned the Cardinals possession and helped give Detroit enough momentum to seal the deal.
The Lions will come back to Detroit next Monday night for a primetime showdown against Seattle.
