DETROIT, Oct. 11, 2024 ~ The 34th annual Detroit Goodfellows Tribute Breakfast took place Friday, honoring Detroit Lions Principal Owner and Chairwoman Sheila Ford Hamp and her husband, Michigan Education Excellence Foundation Chairman Steve Hamp, as the Edward H. McNamara Goodfellows of the Year.
The event took place at Detroit’s Huntington Place to raise money for Christmas gifts for Detroit-area children in need, including the event’s iconic dolls. The annual breakfast also funds a shoe program, dental program, camperships, and college scholarships. The breakfast was hosted by 760 WJR‘s Paul W. Smith, and was attended by Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, Detroit Police Chief James White, and more to donate money and honor the Hamps.

(CONTINUED) Sheila Hamp was not only recognized for her successes as Detroit Lions owner, with the team seeing strong runs since she took ownership in 2020, but also for the charitable organizations she and Steve participate in. These include being on the board of the Purple Rose Theatre Company, the Detroit Lions Foundation, and the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House.
“For me, choosing to lead the Lions is about the city of Detroit,” she said during her speech. “It’s about the same kids in our community that the Goodfellows are connecting with and inspiring.“
