CLEVELAND, October 12, 2024 ~ The Detroit Tigers ended their post-season run Saturday, falling 7-3 to the Cleveland Guardians in Game 5 of the American League Division Series. The game turned in the fifth inning when Guardians outfielder Lane Thomas hit a grand slam off Tarik Skubal, giving Cleveland a decisive lead.
Bullpen struggles continued for the Tigers through the later innings, allowing crucial insurance runs for the Guardians. Cleveland’s pitching staff, led by a stellar performance from ace pitcher, Tanner Bibee, managed to all but stifle Detroit’s lineup, preventing any significant comeback attempts. The Tigers’ hitters, who had been so potent throughout the season, found themselves unable to deliver in the clutch moments of this decisive game.
