Mid-Michigan Semiconductor Plant Recieves $325 Million Grant for Expansion

HEMLOCK, MI, Oct. 22, 2024 ~ A major semiconductor manufacturer in mid-Michigan will undergo a major expansion thanks to a massive federal grant.

About $325 million in federal funds have been cleared for the Hemlock Semiconductor company for a new facility on its campus west of Saginaw to support the production and purification of a crucial ingredient in advanced chips. Officials said this grant would boost Michigan’s standing in the domestic semiconductor supply chain and could prevent interruptions in key industries that occurred during the pandemic.
