DETROIT, Oct. 28, 2024 – Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton took the stage at the Detroit Opera House Monday in a promotional event moderated by Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson. Just over a week before the 2024 presidential election, Clinton used the platform to deliver a scathing critique of President Trump’s recent rally at Madison Square Garden, drawing historical parallels and warning of the dangers posed by divisive rhetoric.
“Trump’s rally was a stark reminder of the dark chapters in our history,” Clinton stated, referencing the infamous 1939 pro-Nazi rally held at the same venue. “We cannot allow hate and extremism to take root in our society again.”

She also discussed her new book, “Something Lost, Something Gained: Reflections on Life, Love, & Liberty,” which explores themes of resilience, democracy, and personal growth. “This book is a reflection of my journey and the lessons I’ve learned along the way,” she said. “It’s about finding strength in adversity and the importance of standing up for what is right.”
She continued her message of action by emphasizing her views on what’s at stake in the upcoming election, stressing the importance of preserving democratic values and protecting the rights of all Americans. “This election is about the soul of our nation,” she asserted. “We are at a crossroads, and the choices we make now will determine the future of our democracy.”
Clinton also expressed her strong support for Vice President Kamala Harris, who is running for president. “Kamala Harris has the experience, the integrity, and the vision to lead our country forward,” Clinton said. “She understands the challenges we face and has the courage to tackle them head-on. We need a leader who will unite us, not divide us.”
“Our democracy is not a spectator sport,” Clinton reminded the audience. “It’s up to each and every one of us to participate, to stand up for our values, and to ensure that our country remains a beacon of hope and freedom.”
