DETROIT, Nov. 6, 2024, ~ Donald Trump has officially taken Michigan by a narrow margin of 49.7% of the state’s vote, adding to the swing states the former president picked up this election cycle to win the presidency.

In a significant turn for American democracy, Trump is projected to make a return to the White House, marking a major shift in the political landscape. Election night was a turning point, with Trump’s supporters celebrating what they perceive as a significant win, even as the broader political divide within the electorate remains evident.

In a speech delivered from Florida before the win was projected, Trump articulated his vision for a “golden age of America,” energizing his base with promises of renewed prosperity. Meanwhile, Democratic candidate Kamala Harris is expected to address the public later today, as her party reflects on the election’s outcomes.

(CONTINUED) Vote counting continues in critical battleground states such as Arizona, Michigan, and Nevada, where the final results could still influence the overall election narrative. Despite ongoing counts, the Republican Party is anticipated to regain control of the U.S. Senate, a shift that will significantly alter the balance of power in Washington and shape future legislative agendas.

In the race for Michigan’s open U.S. Senate seat, former Republican U.S. Representative Mike Rogers holds a narrow lead over Democratic U.S. Representative Elissa Slotkin, though the final outcome remains uncertain. Among Michigan’s 13 U.S. House seats, six are confirmed for Democrats, while seven are confirmed or leaning Republican. The race between John James and Carl Marlinga in Michigan’s 10th District remains too close to call.
