EAST LANSING, November 16, 2024 ~ Michigan State basketball (3-1) used a 18 point run in the final seven minutes of the game to take a 86-72 victory over Bowling Green (1-3) Saturday evening at the Breslin Center.

Senior guard Jaden Akins led the team in all three major categories, including hitting a clutch three pointer to help swing a winning momentum towards the Spartans. He tallied a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, while adding six assists.

Sophomore forward Coen Carr also had multiple runs to the rim that shifted the energy in the arena. The high flyer recorded 11 points to go along with five rebounds.

(CONTINUED) It took a double digit scoring effort from seven different Spartans to take down a potent Bowling Green offense. The Falcons held the lead for a majority of the night, but MSU pulled away in the final minutes.

The green and white started slow thanks to another poor shooting performance from beyond the three point line. They finished on a 4-20 mark, only good for 20%.  While the threes were not falling, the free throws were for the Spartans. Out of 32 attempts, MSU drained 28 shots.

The effort did not falter on the boards though, as Michigan State out rebounded the Falcons 42-28.

Samford will come to East Lansing Nov. 19 for the Spartans next matchup.
