EAST LANSING, November 29, 2024 ~ For the first time in three years, Michigan State football (5-6) has a chance to make an appearance in a bowl game with a win over Rutgers (6-5). The last game of the regular season will be played at Spartan Stadium to honor the seniors for Senior Day.

While a large part of the roster will not be graduating in the Fall or the Spring, a few notable players will be playing in their final home game with a chance to extend their college career for one more match. Fifth-year senior wide receiver Montorie Foster Jr. along with fifth-year graduate linebacker Cal Haladay will be playing their last snaps in East Lansing after tallying 53 and 52 career games played respectively. Sixth year defensive lineman Khris Bogle will also be making his last appearance after being a bright spot the defense could rely on all year long, recording four sacks up to this point.

(CONTINUED) Sophomore quarterback Aidan Chiles has been playing clean football since the first few weeks of the year, as he now has a total of 12 touchdowns compared to 11 interceptions on the season. Converting on key third down situations to help keep the defense off the field has been an issue as of late though, and will need to be cleaned up against a Rutgers team that is already bowl eligible.

MSU leads the overall series, 10-5, including an 8-2 mark in Big Ten play. Michigan State is 5-3 against Rutgers in East Lansing,

With a win this weekend, head coach Jonathan Smith would become the fourth Spartan head coach to secure a bowl bid in his first year on campus. The last coach in the green and white to do so was Mark Dantonio in 2007.
