Detroit Organinzation Helps Refugees Build New Lives in Michigan

DETROIT, Dec. 3, 2024 ~ A local Detroit organization has been working for years to help immigrants and refugees settle in metro Detroit.

Samaritas runs the New Americans in Detroit program that helps vetted and legal immigrants and refugees find jobs, revitalize the local economy, and build a new life. Miheala Mitrofan, director of the New Americans program, said the organization works with many refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria, and Ukraine.
