EAST LANSING, December 6, 2024 ~ With Early Signing Day just about wrapped up, here is a look at the upcoming Michigan State football freshmen class for the 2025 season.
Most notably, the Spartans retained running back Jace Clarizio, a 247 Sports rated three-star running back from East Lansing. Clarizio had originally committed to MSU before Alabama jumped in and stole his promise. To big surprise though, the hometown star decided to stick with the green and white, flipping back the day he signed. Head coach Jonathan Smith put in a lot of effort to keep Clarizio home.
Michigan State also added two four star in-state prospects on the defensive side of the ball in lineman Derrick Simmons and linebacker Charles White.

(CONTINUED) Ohio State made a late push for three-star defensive back Aydan West from Maryland, but the ballhawking corner decided to stick with MSU.
One of the more intriguing prospects that was brought into the program was Hawaiian linebacker Leonard Ah You. Originally committed to Oregon State in the 2023 class as the fourth rated player at his position in his state, Ah You took a two year mission trip but will be returning to the football field next fall.
The Spartans addressed the offensive line as well, one of the bigger concerns of how the team performed in 2024. They added two three-stars on the inside and outside, as well as grabbing a quarterback to sit behind junior Aidan Chiles next season.
While a couple of Spartans having entered the transfer portal already, action is sure to continue heating up as Dec. 9 is the first official day players are free to leave. Smith has about two months to continue his efforts on the recruiting trail, as the next signing day will take place in February.
