EAST LANSING, December 12, 2024 ~ After playing through a gauntlet of a conference schedule last season, featuring back-to-back games against top teams in the country such as Ohio State and #1 ranked Oregon, the Big Ten has released the official schedule for the 2025 Michigan State football season.
Featured in the non-conference matchups is a rematch from last year’s loss on the road to Boston College. The Eagles will be coming to East Lansing this time around though, while the green and white will also play host to Western Michigan and Youngstown in the first three weeks of the season.
MSU will take its second west coast road trip in the new era of the Big Ten after heading to Oregon this past season, opening the season at USC. UCLA will be headed to mid-Michigan though after a bye week and a road game against Nebraska.

(CONTINUED) While the Spartans will not face either Oregon or Ohio State in 2025, they will play host to in-state rival Michigan after heading to the Big House last year, and Penn State after hosting them at Ford Field in 2023.
Ending the season hosting Maryland, Michigan State will travel to Iowa, Minnesota, and College Football Playoff-bound Indiana to finish the year off with some Big Ten country road trips.
Much work will be needed to be done this offseason through recruiting and the transfer portal in order to retain key players and build on a five win season in the first year under head coach Jonathan Smith. If the right players are brought in, the team has a chance to improve upon an underwhelming 2024 record with a much lighter strength of schedule next Fall.
