MICHIGAN, Jan. 2, 2025 ~ Former Michigan Attorney General Mike Cox has launched a committee to explore running for Michigan‘s top office, becoming the first Republican to do so for the 2026 race.

The Livonia formed the committee in late December, serving as the state’s AG from 2003 to 2011. So far, only one candidate has officially announced a bid to replace Gov. Gretchen Whitmer in 2026, that being Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, who is running as an independent.
