LANSING, Jan. 7, 2025 ~ The Michigan attorney general recently stated that the only way for Michiganders to see rules on government ethics and transparency is to pass ballot initiatives.

The Detroit News reported from a press conference with Attorney General Dana Nessel, who expressed frustrations with state lawmakers for failing to pass the Bringing Reforms in Integrity, Transparency and Ethics (BRITE) Act. “I have sort of come to believe that for a lot of laws involving good government, especially those contained in the BRITE ACT, that perhaps the only way that will actually happen is through a ballot proposal,” she told reporters.
