LOS ANGELES, Jan. 9, 2025 ~ Michigan native Jason Wright is among the thousands in the Los Angeles area being forced to evacuate from their home.

Wright, an attorney living with his husband and son in Los Feliz, California, told WJR that he and his family had to evacuate Wednesday due to multiple fires ravaging the Los Angeles metro area. “Yesterday was a really strange day because the fire started the night before and I woke up and suddenly these fires had grown so exponentially and fast due to the winds blowing west and blowing so fast,” Wright said, who was originally from Plainwell, MI. “It was a lot of texting with friends, trying to make sure everyone was safe, figuring out what (we) were going to do for the day.

I had woken up and was working very early in the morning and hadn’t noticed everything. Then the power went out and I went outside and realized it was just a dark black cloud above my house coming from the east, from the Eaton Fire, and I could see a patch of blue to the north.
