DETROIT, January 14, 2025 ~ Earlier today, State Senator Eric Nesbitt announced his candidacy for Michigan‘s governorship during a live segment on “‘JR Morning with Guy Gordon, Lloyd Jackson, and Jamie Edmonds.”

Nesbitt, the Republican minority leader in the Michigan Senate, revealed his plans to become the state’s 50th governor, while emphasizing his deep-rooted connection to Michigan and his commitment to addressing the state’s pressing issues. “Michiganders deserve so much better than what they are getting out of Lansing today,” Nesbitt stated, highlighting his focus on prioritizing Michigan families, workers, and students.

(CONTINUED) Nesbitt, who grew up on a six-generation family farm and holds a degree in economics from Hillsdale College, criticized the current administration for its handling of the state’s $9 billion surplus and its approach to corporate incentives. He pledged to support law enforcement, small business owners, and workers, aiming to create a more competitive environment in education, infrastructure, and workforce development. “As governor, I’m going to work to put Michiganders first,” Nesbitt declared, underscoring his vision for a prosperous and secure Michigan.

Other candidates for the Michigan governor race include Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan, running as an Independent, and former Attorney General Mike Cox, a Republican from Livonia, who has established a committee but has yet to formally declare his candidacy.
