DETROIT, Jan. 26, 2025 ~ For the second time in three years, the Kansas City Chiefs will meet the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl after both teams won their conference championship games Sunday evening. The Chiefs defeated the Buffalo Bills 32-29 in the playoffs for the fourth time in five seasons while the Washington Commanders were handled by NFC East division rival Philadelphia 55-23.
In typical Chiefs-Bills playoff style, the game was decided by a field goal as NFL MVP candidate and Bills quarterback Josh Allen could not convert on fourth down after the two minute warning in the fourth. KC quarterback Patrick Mahomes recorded two rushing touchdowns to go with an 11-yard passing score to wide receiver Xavier Worthy.
In the first game of the day, MVP candidate and Eagles running back Saquon Barkley dominated the Commanders defense. Barkley tallied 118 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns to push the Eagles over 50 points scored.

(CONTINUED) Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts also had an impressive showing, recording four total touchdowns. He scored three of them with his legs while finding star wide receiver A.J. Brown for his only passing score of the afternoon.
The last time these teams met in the final game of the season, controversy came with a Chiefs win. A questionable holding call on the Eagles defense set up the winning field goal in the 38-35 match in 2023. If Kansas City pulls out another win this year, they would become the first team to ever win three consecutive Super Bowls in NFL history.
